GEOINT Production Solution Enables Faster Analysis

Intergraph has introduced new software capabilities for its widely deployed geospatial intelligence production solution to enable the defense and intelligence community to create higher quality geospatial analysis products faster and more efficiently. The Geospatial Intelligence Production solution is now enhanced for hardcopy production and is available to defense and intelligence agencies to facilitate a more efficient workflow for collecting, viewing, manipulating and producing geospatial products. Users will benefit from increased quality and efficiency when producing largescale maps to specification. Intergraph ImageStation Stereo for GeoMedia enables intelligence professionals to perform photogrammetric 3-D data capture using stereo imagery of aerial and satellite sensors in a GIS environment.

Analysts use the tools to interactively collect, update and manipulate geometry and attributes of map features, as well as to enable automatic attribution and geometric validation. The toolset optimizes the data collection workflow, which delivers more accurate data, thereby ensuring the production of more accurate maps. Defense and intelligence agencies can also leverage the capabilities of ImageStation Stereo Viewer for GeoMedia, which provides a foundational reading capability through which users can view stereo imagery, display legends and measure features in 3-D.

Visualization Software Manages Complex Event Processing

EventVUE is the new real-time visual solution for complex event processing (CEP) from Silicon Graphics. EventVUE software blends the company’s uniquely scalable Intel- and Linux-based servers, storage and visualization solutions with its real-time software extensions to Linux and years of professional services expertise in creating immersive Reality Center visual environments. Unveiled along with Silicon Graphics VUE, a suite of software visualization solutions that changes the way visual information is created, distributed and used, EventVUE integrates multiple data sources and processing elements in five layers: physical, semantic, geospatial, analytic and visual. EventVUE monitors key thresholds in real time to trigger data flow and processing according to pre-determined policies, so leaders are alerted to potential threats in time to take action. To deliver EventVUE, Silicon Graphics tapped into its vast visualization software capabilities while establishing strategic alliances with key software providers. These include an agreement with Coral8, whereby Silicon Graphics will integrate and package Coral8 CEP software with SGI Altix servers, and an alliance with Ontoprise formed to provide a superior data ontology capability that addresses customer needs for semantic Web and business intelligence applications in an integrated CEP workflow.

Portable Computer Models Offer Rugged Performance

MaxVision has introduced two new rugged portable computer models. The MaxPac A class workstation line, the company’s lightest-weight, ruggedized “lunchbox” workstation, offers the highest performance-per-pound in its rugged multi-core product lineup, along with resistive touch screen capability. The MaxPac A Class is designed for users requiring performance, expansion and capabilities that stretch beyond the limitations of rugged notebook or laptop computers. For instance, all MaxPac A class models have a patented universal power supply that can operate on almost any AC power source and a patented “desert proven” air filtration system for operation in 0-50 C. The MiniRAX computer is the industry’s smallest rack mount computer, and operates in extreme temperature environments with a form factor of 19 inches wide, 1U high and 10 inches deep—ideal for military and other mobile/ vehicle rack-mounted applications. Configured with an Intel Core2Duo, 4GB of RAM, an NVIDIA Quadro FX3700 graphics card, a 100GB removable SATA drive and a removable DVD or BluRay burner, the MiniRAX weighs only 9 lbs.

Army Orders Collaborative Surveillance Stations

Sarnoff Corp. has been awarded multiple contracts to build 80 Standard Ground Stations (SGS) for the Army. SGS integrates multiple sensor and video feeds for use among Army command and control assets for collaborative surveillance, targeting, maneuvering and interdicting of hostile forces. The SGS runs Sarnoff’s TerraSight software providing real-time video in context over 3-D terrain models of the earth. Commanders on the ground are able to use the SGS for processing video to track enemy forces using many cameras, while accessing data from the most effective sensor. Data can also be shared with other command and control networks.

Pact Aids Delivery of Data to the Field

TerraGo Technologies and BAE Systems, providers of geospatial collaboration software, have announced a collaborative agreement under which BAE Systems’ Socet GXP v3.0 customers can now easily create, mark up and export geographically rich image data and maps to a GeoPDF file directly from the Socet GXP workspace. In addition, customers can purchase the Map2PDF for Socet GXP software module used to create GeoPDFs directly from BAE Systems. The TerraGo Map2PDF for Socet GXP solution will allow for anyone with access to Adobe Reader to view, mark up or configure geographic attributes (GeoMarks) contained in the image or map from a desktop computer. The PDF document maintains predominant features and coordinates, yet compresses the file to a size suitable for transmission via e-mail, portable drive or shared network. Government and commercial analysts use Socet GXP to produce and deliver highly accurate mapping and intelligence data to the field for mission planning, disaster relief, land-use management and transportation planning.

Dual-Swath System Expands Aerial Image Collection

Flight Landata has included dual-swath electro-optical (EO) capability to the BuckEye aerial imaging system. The Dual Swath BuckEye EO system collects twice as much ultra-high-resolution as a single flight line, providing greater efficiency in data collection and processing. The EO portion of the BuckEye is a lightweight imaging system that can be flown aboard fixed wing, rotor wing and UAV aircraft to acquire large-format natural-color imagery with centimeter-level resolution. By doubling the swath width of every image scene, Flight Landata has tailored the Dual Swath system to be safer and more efficient, especially in ISR-related missions collecting highresolution georeferenced images of point targets and lines of communication with one collection pass. Not only do aircraft have to spend less time in the air, but also image processing is faster because there are fewer flight lines to fuse during mosaicking and orthorectification. ♦
