Major General Susan K. Mashiko, who has been director, space acquisition, Office of the Under Secretary of the Air Force, has been assigned as deputy director, National Reconnaissance Office, and commander, Air Force Space Command Element, NRO.

Brigadier General Peter B. Zwack, who has been special assistant to the commanding general, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany, has been appointed military executive, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.


Joel Campbell has joined the management team of ERDAS as president. His previous employers include GeoEye, Definiens, EarthData and ESRI, along with operating his own consulting firm. Most recently, Campbell was the senior director of product management for GeoEye, where he helped manage the company’s expansion into new commercial markets and supported the launch of products from the recently launched GeoEye-1 earth imaging satellite.


NJVC, one of the largest information technology solutions providers supporting the Department of Defense, has promoted Patrick O’Neil to the position of program manager for the company’s largest federal contract. Jill Bruning, program manager for the past two and a half years, now is directing her focus on her role as the company’s chief operating officer. The company’s largest customer is the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.


ManTech International has named Gregory A. Roman as senior vice president for space and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance services in its Systems Engineering and Advanced Technology group. Roman, who completed 23 years in the Air Force, retiring as commander of the 544th Information Operations Group, will oversee support to NASA, Air Force systems engineering and technical analysis programs, the National Reconnaissance Office, ISR services and space situational awareness contracts.


University of Minnesota Professor Guillermo Sapiro will investigate image acquisition, analysis and integration as one of 11 National Security Science and Engineering Faculty Fellows named recently by the Department of Defense.
